Use the Present Progressive Tense if you're talking about an action happening in the present, temporarily, or in the near future. The Present Progressive Tense is as follows:
Example: "I am working now." Or, in contracted form: "I'm working now."
The spelling of the Present Participle is as follows:
Add "ing" to the Base Form of the verb: Base Form: "Walk" Present Participle: "Walking"
If the Base Form ends in "e", drop the "e" before adding "ing". Examples: "write" changes to "writing". "make" changes to "making."
If the Base Form has one vowel letter + one consonant letter, double the final consonant letter.
Examples: "mop" changes to "mopping". "cut" changes to "cutting".
If the Base Form is two syllables, and the second syllable is stressed, and it has one vowel letter + one consonant letter, double the final consonant letter. However, if the second syllable is unstressed, don't double the final letter.
Examples: "admit" changes to "admitting". "refer" changes to "referring", "upset" changes to "upsetting". But notice there is no doubling of the final consonant in "opening", "traveling" "visiting".
